The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you!

Founded in 1927, Trinity Lutheran Church is in Shenandoah for one reason- that people might receive the grace of God in Jesus Christ our Lord.

We are sinful even from our conception as David reminds us in Psalm 51.  Sin separates us from God and corrupts us- down to our very core.  Sin shows itself in thoughts, in words and in actions both by things we do and things we leave undone- things that destroy ourselves, those around us and our relationship with God.  In our sin, we are without hope, with nothing but an eternity separated from God before us.  However, God, in His mercy, sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to atone for the sin of the whole world.   Jesus, who is very God Himself, has taken our sin upon Himself, suffering and dying on a cross so that our relationship with God could be restored.  Therefore, as we gather for worship, we gather to receive the gifts that Christ has won for us- the gifts of His mercy, love and forgiveness.  We gather to receive God’s grace.  We receive that grace when we confess our sins and hear the absolution- the assurance that our sins are forgiven- pronounced upon us.  We receive that grace when we come to our Lord’s Table and receive Jesus’ body and blood for the forgiveness of our sins.  We receive that grace when the Gospel is proclaimed in all of its purity.  We receive that grace when an individual comes or is brought to the waters of Holy Baptism and in that sacrament is clothed with Christ.  Using the historic liturgy of the Church, we at Trinity gather for one reason- to receive Jesus, the One who by His blood has once again given us a relationship with God.

Jesus is risen!  The One who died for us has shown that death could not hold Him.  And as we are in Him, it cannot hold us either.  As we look forward to Jesus’ coming, we invite you to come and receive the grace of God with us.  If you are not a member of the LCMS, we ask that you read and respect our Communion Policy if you are coming on a Sunday on which we celebrate the Lord’s Supper.

May the love of Christ fill you with hope as we wait for His blessed return!

In Christ,

Pastor Justin Whitmore
